London: Printed for Darton and Harvey, (1805. first edition). Folio, 84 leaves of copper engraved plates, each accompanied by a one to three page description of the animal. Contemporary full green straight grained morocco, a wide ornamental gilt border, spines with raised bands, gilt ornament and lettering; front pastedowns with armorial bookplates, original endpapers, all edges gilt, some minor foxing and oxidation, a fine set.
A beautifully illustrated work originally published as fascicules between 1795 and 1805. Includes the kangaroo and the flying opossum. A second edition was published 1848.
