Birds of New Guinea.
Princeton NJ: Princeton University Press, (1986. first edition). Octavo, colour plates, softcover.
Although superseded by the later edition (Pratt and Beehler), plus the new guide by Phil Gregory, this is still a very useful book which covers over 700 species of birds and illustrates most of them in colour. The text contains species accounts treating identification, distribution, ecology, vocalisations and behaviour. Anyone seriously interested in New Guinea birds should have a copy.
