Lists all the regionally recognisable forms of Australian song-birds and maps the distribution and summarises the habitat of each form. The Directory describes 720 regional forms of Australian Passerines, compared to only about 340 species. This series will be completed in three volumes; the non-passerine volume is currently in preparation and has an expected publication date of 2016. A final volume on the biogeography and evolution of Australian birds is planned.
