An invaluable detailed work listing all the regionally recognisable forms of Australian song-birds and maps the distribution and summarises the habitat of each form. The Directory describes 720 regional forms of Australian Passerines, compared to only about 340 species. Two other volumes were intended but will probably never eventuate.
