Klaus Immelmann (1935-1987) was a German ornithologist who specialised in behavourial ecology. He was interested in arid country birds and did field work in Africa and Australia. His revision of Cayley's Finches, much of it based on his own field studies, is a valuable and original contribution to Australian ornithology.
