This book was first published to commemorate the centenary of the Botanic Gardens, Melbourne, founded in 1846 at the instance of Charles Joseph Latrobe, Superintendent of the Port Phillip Settlement.
PROVENANCE: Robert Henderson Croll (1869-1947) was an active member of the Victorian Field Naturalists', newspaper columnist, author of a major book on Tom Roberts and co-authored a book on aboriginal art with Charles Barrett.
